Lake Superior Railroad Museum Setting Record For Off Season Attendance
DULUTH, Minn. — Warmer weather may be taking a toll on the winter businesses, but for indoor attractions such as the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, business has been booming.
The museum was going into the season already with a 5 to 7% increase in attendance, but within the last week with all the rain, it went up 10 to 12%.
Executive Director Ken Buehler says not being able to ski, snowmobile, or ice fish has been causing people to come indoors. Which he believes has been a great opportunity to introduce people to the train museum. This year LSRM is going to set a record for off season attendance.
“We had a very good year at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and a totally safe year on the North Shore Scenic Railroad. But to be able to end the year on such a high note with the attendance figures that we’re getting in the museum this week. It’s just a great way to end the year on a very very positive note,” said Ken Buehler, Executive Director of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.
Buehler says he hopes everyone visiting the Northland takes advantage not just of the train museum, but all other indoor activities such as the Great Lakes Aquarium or the Glensheen Mansion.
