Duluth Public Library Hosts an Early New Year’s Celebration for Kids

DULUTH, Minn. — For the kids who don’t make it to midnight to welcome in the New Year, the Duluth Public Library hosted “Noon” Year’s to celebrate early.

Kids 2nd grade and younger joined in on the fun Saturday for the early New Year’s celebration.

The library had various craft stations set up and a space for a dance party.

A timer was displayed, which ticked down to noon.

Everyone counted down the seconds to noon, which is when the library dropped balloons from the 2nd story for the kids to enjoy.

“We hear from the community that families are really looking for activities for, especially that birth to five age range,” said Carmella Hatch, Duluth Public Library, Early Literacy Coordinator.  “There’s not a ton of things, especially that are free to do and especially as it gets colder, so I think it’s really fulfilling a need in the community to do something like this.”

While the library will be closed on New Year’s Day, there is plenty of fun events lined up throughout January.

You can check out the library’s event calendar online on its website.
