UMD Women’s Hockey to Meet Quinnipiac for First Time Since 2019

All-time, the two programs have only met three times, with only one going the Bulldogs way.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD women’s hockey team will hit the ice this upcoming weekend for the first time in nearly a month when they travel to play at Quinnipiac in a non-conference series.

It’s been a while since the Bulldogs and Bobcats clashed.

You have to look back to November of 2019 when Quinnipiac got the best of UMD 4 to 2.

All-time, the two programs have only met three times, with only one going the Bulldogs way.

Head Coach Maura Crowell says even though it’s been almost five years since their last meeting, she knows what to expect from her opponent.

“I know the coach well. She’s a hockey Canada product. So they have some of those methods in the way they play. I think they’ve gotten some real good recruits over the years. They have kids that can put the puck in the net. Have a good back end that likes to produce, can shoot the puck from the blue line. Also activates from the D-zone so they have some different offensive looks and I think they’re pretty structured defensively,” said Crowell.

A series that’s sure to shake up the polls begins Friday at 5 PM.
