Barnum H.S. Student Accused Of Injuring Another Student With Box Cutter

BARNUM, Minn. — A Barnum High School student is facing serious charges after police say she cut another student with a box cutter.

The suspect is a 14-year-old girl.  The victim is a 16-year-old boy.

The incident was reported around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The school was placed on lockdown during the incident.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office said the boy received a cut to his chest.  He was treated at a hospital and expected to be OK.

The girl was at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center in Duluth Tuesday on preliminary charges of 2nd-degree assault.

A motive for the crime was not immediately known.
