Lake Superior Zoo Brings Back Keeper Talks

DULUTH, Minn. — A new way to learn more about animals is back at the Lake Superior Zoo.

Keeper Talks is what they are calling it. That’s where animal care specialists can speak to guests more about a specific species. It can involve training, enrichment, or feeding.

This is the first time the talks have been back since the pandemic. Wednesday, we learned more about Zoozee the Red Panda. Staff says the talks are a great way to make the most out of your experience.

“So, you can actually talk to the keeper and the keeper who works with the animal. So, it’s not just information on the animal, it’s information on that specific individual. So, when you come to the zoo and you see you know our lion or our red panda, it’s not just any lion it’s specifically Malkia or Zoozee and you get to know more information about our specific animal that you see,” said Jessica Kretsch, zookeeper.

There are two Keeper Talks a day, one at noon and another at 1:30pm.
