DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Fire Department is reminding the public not to drive over hydrant lines when they are responding to a fire. This comes after crews were fighting a structure fire at the Greysolon Plaza building early Thursday morning.

The DFD says crews were called to the fire on Superior Street at 5:16 a.m. happening in a single apartment unit inside the building. They were able to quickly knock down the fire.

Authorities say two patients were treated for smoke inhalation on scene and then brought to a local hospital for further treatment.

Damages are estimated at about $35,000 total.

Two separate vehicles drover over one of the hydrant lines being used to fight the fire. DFD says they “cannot stress enough the important of NOT driving over our hoses.” The fire department says this puts equipment, people’s property, and staff in jeopardy.

The incident is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
