Twins Winter Caravan Makes Stop in Duluth
Wallner, Varland among 2024 attendees
DULUTH, Minn.- After an electrifying 2023 season, Twins fans in Duluth were eager to see players in-person Sunday night as part of the Twins Winter Caravan.
Fans at The Garden in Canal Park had the unique opportunity to ask the players questions, as well as receive autographs and take part in several giveaways. This year’s Winter Caravan included current players Matt Wallner and Louie Varland, who each grew up in Minnesota.
“Just growing up a Twins fan, I know that as a little kid, I thoroughly enjoyed coming to (the Winter Caravan) and seeing some current players,” said Wallner. “So, it’s fun to be on the opposite side of that, so it’s so much fun for us.”
Other attendees on hand were former Twins Pitcher LaTroy Hawkins, play-by-play announcer Cory Provus, and Twins Mascot T.C. Bear. Provus, who has been part of the Winter Caravan for several years, says fans are rightly justified in being both excited and optimistic for the upcoming baseball season.
This is not a team that’s lacking star power, and this team certainly has that, and I think fans sense the same thing,” says Provus. “The energy that I think Twins fans have for this year’s team based on what last year’s team accomplished is really special, so I thoroughly enjoy coming and especially to a great city like here in Duluth.”
The Winter Caravan is set to make stops in Forest Lake, St. Cloud and Mankato over Monday and Tuesday.
This year’s event was hosted by local radio station KDAL 610 AM. Proceeds for the event will benefit Never Surrender Inc, which helps people living ALS. Click this link if you’d like to learn more about the organization or make a donation.
