New Superior Police Chief Sworn In
SUPERIOR, Wisc. — The Superior Police Department officially has a new Police Chief as Paul Winterscheidt was sworn in Monday morning.
Winterscheidt is an 18-year veteran of the Superior Police Department and a graduate of U-W Superior.
In an interview with Fox 21 in early December,
Winterscheidt said he would continue and expand a program that’s designed to keep people out of the justice system.
“One of the things I’m very excited about is our Coordinated Outreach and Response Team, it’s called our CORE Team,” said Winterscheidt. “They will be able to respond to calls they may be able to deal with acute mental health issues and other incidents which require law and mediation skills as an alternative response strategy.”
Winterscheidt replaces Nick Alexander who had been with the Superior Police Department for 25 and a half years.
