‘Love Stinks’ Fundraiser Underway at the Humane Society of Douglas County
For $5, HSDC will put the name of a not-so-special someone onto a heart and into a litter box
SUPERIOR, Wisc. — Not feeling the Valentine’s Day spirit? The Humane Society of Douglas County might just have a solution for you — not to mention a way to do some good.
Now through Valentine’s Day, you can put the name of an ‘un-special’ person, place, or thing on a ‘poo heart’ that will go — you guessed it — into a shelter cats litter box! All you need to do is donate five dollars. The Humane Society has already had some memorable hearts, including a submission via letter, said HSDC Fundraising and Events Coordinator Cheri Fitch.
“I think our letter is the favorite so far, because that person was nice enough to give us a little insight into why they chose those names,” Fitch said. “But we’ve also have things like mental illness or ‘my job’ was one of them, which is hilarious.”
For those looking for a nicer smelling way to help out, the Humane Society is also partnering with Sawyer and Sage Candles this Valentine’s season. Handcrafted pet candles, jar candles, and wax melts are available at the shelter to buy for the animal lover in your life.
