Iron Range Firefighters Tackle 3 Weekend Structure Fires

Firefighters were busy this weekend fighting three separate structure fires on the Iron Range.

The latest fire happened Saturday evening in downtown Gilbert in an apartment building.

Multiple agencies assisted in this fire. One tenant was treated on scene for minor burns, according to the Northland Fire Wire.

A cause is under investigation, but the Fire Wire reports the fire is believed to be accidental in nature.

Meanwhile, firefighters in Hibbing tackled two separate house fires. The most recent fire was reported around 4 p.m. Saturday in a home on the 1500 block of 14th Avenue East.

The house is a total loss. No injuries were reported. A cause is under investigation.

The other fire happened around 8:30 a.m. Saturday in a house on the 2100 block of 41st Street East.

The house was vacant at the time and undergoing renovations, according to the Fire Wire.

The house was extensively damaged.  No injuries were reported.  A cause is also under investigation.
