Political Season Ramping Up, MN DFL Chair Visits Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. — With the general elections only nine months away, political activity is ramping up. That includes getting out the vote, but before that, getting out to precinct caucuses.
The chair of the Minnesota DFL party was making the rounds in the northland Tuesday. Ken Martin was encouraging people to mark their calendars for caucuses on February 27th, and the Super Tuesday primary on March 5th. In the Duluth area in the last election, the DFL lost two seats by fewer than 50 votes each. House districts 3A and 3B. Martin says the seats may get even more attention next November.
“We’re confident, given how close the margins were in those two seats that the DFL will pick those seats up again. They’re probably in some ways, the Northland is ground zero for each party’s hopes to control the house chamber. So, you’ll see a lot of time, energy and money spent in Northeastern Minnesota this year,” said Ken Martin, Chair for the Minnesota DFL Party.
Martin says he thinks two key issues in the coming year will be jobs and infrastructure. He also predicted that his party will be easily re-elected to the house majority in the fall.
