Second U Of M Presidential Finalist Visit

DULUTH, Minn. — The University of Minnesota system is continuing its process of searching for a new President.

Laura Bloomberg is second of the three finalists visiting Duluth. UMD students, faculty, and staff were able to attend an on-campus forum, followed by a reception to learn more about her.

Bloomberg is no stranger to Minnesota as she was born in Minneapolis and raised in St. Cloud. She has plenty of knowledge on the U of M system as she previously served as a Dean in the Twin Cities, and a provost. Right now, she is the president of Cleveland State University.

If Bloomberg is elected this is the first thing she’ll do.

“A popular response I know because I talk to a lot of presidents around the country is that a new president should engage in a lot of listening and I think that is true, although I also think about our relationship with our elected officials. And I think it something that is essential and I think it is something that needs to be strengthened,” said Bloomberg.

Bloomberg is making stops at all 5 U of M campuses this week. She says it is very important to her to meet students.
