Retired 148th Fighter Wing Member To Give Presentation On Cold War
DULUTH, Minn. — A retired 148th Fighter Wing Member will be telling the story of the Cold War and how the Duluth’s Air Force Base was involved.
Raymond Klosowski was born in Moose Lake and graduated from Duluth Central High School. He served for 33 years and originally joined as a fighter pilot. He was later promoted to Brigadier General and Commander of the unit.
The presentation this Thursday will disclose declassified information about the military operations around Duluth at the time of the war.
“The Cold War offered many surprises for the Duluth folks and unexpected growth that happened. In the earlier days of the Cold War Duluth had a very critical, strategic location that required a rapid buildup as the Soviets built up their power after the second World War,” said retired Brig. Gen. Klosowski.
