Northwestern Wrestler Ian Smith Captures 2nd Individual State Title

Smith now finishes his senior campaign with an undefeated record of 19-0.

MADISON, Wis.- Northwestern’s Ian Smith had a weekend to remember.

Competing in the Division Two state individual championship on Saturday in the Kohl Center in Madison, Smith would defeat Two Rivers’ Chase Matthias in the 215 pound bout.

Smith had a two point takedown with 75 seconds remaining to eventually earn the 3 to 2 victory.

Smith now finishes his senior campaign with an undefeated record of 19-0.

Smith, who’s also on the Tiger football team, will next compete at the college level for Northern Illinois.
