Hermantown High School Robotics Team Prepares for Competition

Hermantown Talons 5232 Robotics Has Just a Few Days to Finish Their Robot Before Regionals

HERMANTOWN, Minn. — It’s crunch time for the Hermantown High School Robotics team!

Their first competition of the season, the Northern Lights Regional, is fast approaching. Hermantown will compete this weekend at the DECC against teams from across the Midwest.

“It’s kind of the biggest event for Minnesota,” said Scouting & Strategy Captain Emma Klyn. “And it’s the first one, it happens right at the end of build season. Some tournaments happen a few weeks later and you have a buffer time but this one happens basically the moment build season is done. So, we’re all pretty nervous but in the excited way.”

This year’s robot, affectionately named Tinkerbell because of her motor’s chime-like noises, picks up rings, aims, and climbs. Tinkerbell and her team begin competition this Friday, March 1st.
