Mountain Iron-Buhl Girls Capture Fourth Straight Section Title

30 points for Zubich in 77-35 victory

DULUTH, Minn.- The Mountain Iron-Buhl girls basketball team will have a chance to defend their state title next week following Friday’s 77-35 Section 7A Championship win over Cromwell-Wright.

This marks the Lady Rangers’ fourth-straight section title and their third-consecutive title win over the Cardinals. “It was fun to watch our kids compete today,” said Jeff Buffetta, the head coach of Mountain Iron-Buhl. “The performance that they had and the way they played together, that’s what makes these games special.”

Jordan Zubich led the way for MIB with 30 points, including 22 in the second half. “I think our senior class obviously has a bit bigger of a goal than this, but this is obviously the first step,” says Zubich, who is Lady Rangers’ all-time leading scorer. “I’m super proud of everybody on the team, it was great.”

The Class A State Tournament begins on Thursday, March 14 in Minneapolis.
