Lake Superior College Helping Students Prepare for Future with Grad Fair

DULUTH, Minn. — Future graduates of Lake Superior College are preparing for life after school.

The college held a Grad Fair Tuesday as a way to remind students that there is still plenty to do before the big day. All of their questions could be answered in one spot.

Students may need help with career advice, have financial aid questions, or need to know the details of their commencement ceremony. Some may even still have to apply to graduate.

“I think the timing is really important. You know we’re just coming off of spring break and so, they did get a little bit of a reprieve. But they’ve still got a long way to go and so this is kind of like the finish line is there, we can see it, it’s within reach and so, just power through the rest of the semester. And this hopefully gives them that little spark to get there,” said Melissa Leno, Registrar of LSC.

One student graduating with electronic technology for industrial controls says he went to the fair to figure out how graduation works, but also to help with a future job.

“Just getting things more set up to like apply for jobs for the real-world. Just as far as having your resume, and like cover letter, and things to show that you want to prove that you want to work for a place and you’re interested,” said Taylor Semrau, graduating from LSC.

LSC’s commencement ceremony will take place May 13th at the DECC. Between fall, spring and summer over 800 students will be celebrating.
