FDLTCC Offering Full-Year Registration for Students

CLOQUET, Minn. — Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College is taking a new approach when it comes to scheduling classes.

Students are now able to register for classes a whole year in advance instead of only for the upcoming semester. The goal is to make it easier for everyone to plan ahead with work, childcare, and other responsibilities.

The Vice President of Academic Affairs says they are one of the very few in the state to offer full year registration. That is because the amount of time and effort it takes for staff, faculty, and the registrar to come up with a schedule that far out.

“It’s hard being a college student at times and there’s a lot of apprehension that can come into this. That students are worried about how are you going to pay for classes, how are you going to you know work your job, how are you going to make this all fit. And along with that is this concern that, ‘what if the class I need isn’t offered next semester?’ And this way they know. they know a full year in advance that what they need is going to be offered so, we give them that level of assurance too,” said Kelly McCalla, VP of Academic Affairs.

Another benefit the college has found is that you’ll know how much of a student loan borrowing amount you’ll need early on as their tuition is set for the year.
