DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth Parks and Rec is teaming up with a non-profit that focuses on supporting seniors as they age.

Every month both organizations host an event called Lunch, Learn, and Share. Friday’s program took place at the Harrison Community Center in Duluth and was all about gardening. Superior Seed Company taught seniors about why gardening is for your health and how easy it is to get started.

A Duluth Aging Support spokesperson says these events truly make a difference in the senior’s lives.

“We know that social connection makes a difference in our health. And to have opportunities and spaces where we can get to know our neighbors, we can meet other people, we can sort of come out of the woodwork, and be connected to our neighborhoods is extremely important. And to be able to do that by sharing a meal and learning together is just incredible,” said Rebecca James Aslum, Outreach Coordinator for Duluth Aging Support.

This is the second year of Lunch, Learn, and Share. It is a free event with lunch provided. You can find more details are on the Duluth Parks and Rec website.
