Solon Springs Boys Basketball Sees Season End in D5 State Semifinals

Solon Springs finishes the season with a 27-3 overall record.

MADISON, Wis.- Making their first ever state tournament appearance on Friday, the Solon Springs boys basketball team would battle Columbus Catholic in the Division 5 state semifinals.

The Eagles would start off strong, holding a 36 to 32 lead going into halftime.

Sadly in the 2nd half it was a different story as the Dons outscored Solon Springs 46 to 29.

Dylan Taggart had a team-leading 22 points for the Eagles. Right behind him was teammate Isaiah Kastern, who had 19.

“I can’t be more proud of the effort our guys put in. The physicality we were able to play with. These two guys leading us, as they’ve done all year. Just extremely proud of our team,” said head coach Marcus Besonen.

“It feels good. I would feel better if we won the game. But I’m happy with the season,” added senior forward Isaiah Kastern.

“Coming from a town with 600 people, it’s pretty special that we were able to make it down here. Not the outcome we wanted but still cool we were able to get down here,” said senior guard Dylan Taggart.

Solon Springs finishes the season with a 27-3 overall record.
