After Season-Ending Loss, UMD Women’s Hockey Looks Ahead
Defeated by Ohio State 9-0 Saturday night
DULUTH, Minn.- As was the case in the WCHA Tournament, the UMD women’s hockey team’s time in the NCAA Tournament ended with a shutout loss to Ohio State.
On Saturday, the Buckeyes defeated the Bulldogs 9-0 in what was Ohio State’s seventh-straight win over UMD. Following the loss, Head Coach Maura Crowell reflected on the season-ending loss, along with what her team can take from it moving forward.
“Not the game we wanted to have, (but it) wasn’t for our lack of effort, and I’m really proud of the season we put together, getting to this point.” said Crowell. “We have a lot of people that are coming back and they’re going to learn from this experience and make sure we use this to fuel our fire for next season.”
Mary Kate O’Brien, who will return to UMD next season, also shared her thoughts following Saturday’s loss. “You(‘ve) got to be ready right from the drop of the puck. We say it in the locker room all the time, but it’s easy to say. You’ve got to go out and implement it.”
This marks the second-straight season the Bulldogs have fallen one game short of the Frozen Four.
