‘Neighbors Against NTEC’ Rally Outside City Hall, So Do Supporters
SUPERIOR, Wis. — People for and against the proposed Nemadji Trail Energy Center (NTEC) rallied outside Superior Government Center Tuesday evening.
“Neighbors Against NTEC” were seen on the corner of Hammond Avenue and Belknap Street. They’re concerned the natural gas energy plant would create air and water pollution, as well as cause health issues.
“Our lake, our river matter too,” one organizer said. “We are not here to be your sacrifice anymore. I am so glad, this is grass roots momentum at its finest.”
Even more supporters of the project were out rallying Tuesday.
Minnesota Power, a partial owner of the proposed plant, has told FOX 21, “This project has been extensively reviewed by energy experts, state and federal regulators and state courts and has received numerous regulatory approvals.”
The City of Superior’s Plan Commission will review Minnesota Power’s request for a zoning change on a section of the proposed NTEC site and two street vacations. The meeting begins at 4 p.m.
