Demolition Begins For Condemned Superior Bar, Apartments After Fire
SUPERIOR, Wis. — An apartment building and bar in Superior is being torn down after a Thanksgiving fire condemned the building in November.
Crews were seen demolishing the former Viking Lounge and apartments on Superior north end.
The fire broke out around 10 a.m. Nov. 23 on the 1500-block of North 5th Street near the Hammond Steakhouse.
By the time the Superior Fire Department was able to fully extinguish the flames, 14 people were left homeless.
Fire officials said a lit cigarette that was thrown into a small crawl space below the ground floor was the source of the fire.
