Gordy’s Hi-Hat Open for the 2024 Season

CLOQUET, Minn. — The restaurant known for keeping everything the same since 1960 is back open for the season.

That’s Gordy’s Hi-Hat in Cloquet, known for its hand-pattied burgers, home-made onion rings, and fresh blended shakes. Gordy’s grandson says this year, opening was easy because unlike most seasons they didn’t have any snow to shovel. All they had to do was open the doors and get the equipment started up. And of course, the restaurant wouldn’t be the same without their staff as some of them have been there for 40 plus years.

This is first year open without both of the original owners Gordy and Marilyn as Marilyn passed away this winter and Gordy a few years back.

“A lot of our customers have been coming here for 65 years and it’s just really nice that they can come in and share that you know they have memories of my grandparents with us. And were happy to serve them and their kids and their grandkids and yeah, it’s just really nice,” said Sever Lundquist, Gordy’s grandson.

A returning customer from Cherry says she found the perfect opportunity to stop in before the lunch rush. She explains why it is a great place to eat at.

“I think the small-town feel, the private ownership, owned by people who live in the community. It’s nice to stop somewhere that isn’t a chain,” said Kim Lenski, Gordy’s customer.

Gordy’s Hi-Hat is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. And Gordy’s Warming House which recently went through a remodeling process is back open as well.
