Winter Not Letting Go Just Yet

DULUTH, Minn. — It was just two weeks ago that we were enjoying 60-degree weather, and on Monday morning, Duluthians woke up to another round of 7-10 inches of snow across the city.

It was a reminder of what winter is typically like having to get outside and clear sidewalks and driveways. After only having to get the shovels out a handful of time in the past several months, some residents weren’t too thrilled about having to brush the dust off and get to work.

“Kind of annoyed. I didn’t like digging my car out, but gotta love the snow. It’s Minnesota, so what are you here for,” said Mya Clouteir, along with James Boyles, Duluth residents. “Been out here twice, so I can’t imagine how times we’re gonna have to come back out here and shovel again. Probably a lot.”

Other residents reluctantly accepted their fate in having to shovel the wet, heavy snow Monday morning, but were able to take it in stride with the big picture in mind.

“The water’s good. We need the water. It sucks. but we have to shovel. The weather does what it wants,” said Kirk Wyman, Duluthian.

Duluth property owners are required to clear sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours of the snow coming to an end. Superior residents have 48 hours before the city could come remove it at the cost of the property owner.
