Union Gospel Mission Asking for Blanket Donations
DULUTH, Minn. — The Union Gospel Mission is in urgent need of blankets and is requesting donations as snow hits the Northland.
The Union Gospel Mission says its blanket stock completely ran out during the winter storm, and with the warming center and Chum being frequently full, many have to resort to sleeping outside.
So, the Mission is asking for help in refilling its stockpile of blankets and even other warm clothing items. And even before the winter storm, the Mission saw a large increase in guests needing assistance.
“Quite honestly at this moment anything will do, last night we had 231 guests join us for our dinner meal and so just to kind of put it in perspective, all 231 of those folks could’ve needed something from us,” said Katie Hagglund, Union Gospel Mission Executive Director. “So, the more [blankets] the merry, at this moment.”
Blankets and other donations can be dropped off at the Union Gospel Mission anytime during their open hours.
Which is Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. And Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
