UMD Football Spring Practices Underway
Joint practice/scrimmage with Bemidji State set for April 17
DULUTH, Minn.- Despite the college football season still months away, the UMD football team has returned to Malosky Stadium for their annual spring practices.
The Bulldogs’ spring practices will end with a joint practice and scrimmage against Bemidji State, which is scheduled for April 17 at 4 p.m.
This marks the second straight season UMD will face another school in their spring game. Head Coach Curt Wiese believes lining up against a different program helps his players get ready for gametime situations.
There will be some evaluation, some assessment going on, certainly with the young guys, but also, it’s seeing how guys handle things in pressure situations.” says Wiese, who is entering the 2024 season with a 97-23 record with UMD. “It’s good for our coaching staff. We have some new staff members to be able to get in game-like situations, work some of the kinks out before heading into the season.”
Even with this being a spring game, the Bulldogs will look to avenge themselves against Bemidji State, who defeated UMD 38-31 on October 28, 2023.
