56th Annual Arrowhead Home and Builders Show Hosts Over 300 Vendors
DULUTH, Minn. — A one stop shop for all of your home, building, and gardening needs is taking place at the DECC this weekend.
It is the 56th annual Arrowhead Home and Builders Show. The event is a place for the whole family to check out with seminars, face painting, Lumberjack Shows, and plenty of food and drinks. There are over 300 vendors so there is something for everyone.
One woman worked at the White House for 6 years as a florist. She came to share stories from her time there, as well as some tips and tricks when gardening.
“I hope it’s inspirational that I was working in another field, not a full-time florist when I applied for the job. But through work and study I was able to compete and win the competition. And so, I just want to share what it was like to be able to do that to take my skills from a different area and then bring it to flowers and follow my passion,” said Laura Dowling, former Chief Floral Designer at The White House.
One seminar featured a seasoning and breading company based out of Two Harbors. They showed the audience their take on Whitefish tacos.
“With anything too, you just gotta make sure you’re using enough. Like so, a lot of seasonings you get from the store, super heavy in salt. With our stuff too we use a lot of fresh ingredients so, you can use a lot of that seasoning and you’re just getting a lot of flavor and not a lot of salt. It’s super balanced though so you don’t need to add anything after,” said Frank McQuade, co-owner of Field and Flame.
The home show is going on until 8 Friday night. It starts back up Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can return a second day for free.
