International Falls Historic Bandshell Engulfed in Flames

INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. — A historic bandshell in the City of International Falls caught fire Sunday afternoon, and appears to be a total loss.

There’s been no word yet on what caused the flames or the official extent of its damage, but a Facebook post from Mayor Harley Droba states, “all city staff are safe, however it seems the building is a total loss.”

The Irving Pete Peterson Bandshell resides in Smokey Bear Park. It’s been the music hub for outdoor concerts in the warmer months since the early 1940s.

FOX 21 reached out to the International Falls Fire and Police Departments for more information on this fire, and was told that the case is currently under investigation.
