Reinert Speaks to Chamber’s ‘Let’s do Lunch’ Program
DULUTH, Minn. – For 20 years the Duluth Chamber of Commerce has held monthly ‘Let’s Do Lunch’ meetings. Mayor Roger Reinert was the featured speaker on Tuesday. Based on attendance chamber members were looking forward to hearing from him. This Let’s Do Lunch program had its largest number of people attending in the event‘s two-decade history.
Reinert’s remarks to Chamber members focused on the issues that are of the most importance to business people. “You think about the audience who is here, largely the business community,” said Reinert. “So first, we’ll be talking about our housing across all income levels and of course, we’ll talk about Downton Duluth a little bit. We’ll talk about what we’ve already done and where we’re headed.”
The president of the Duluth Chamber of Commerce, Matt Baumgartner, said his members have been pleased with the start of the mayor’s term and that’s reflected in the record attendance.
Baumgartner said, “I think this is a testament to not only being the first time to hear from the mayor, but also just the energy in this community about what we have going on with economic development, with new business openings, and certainly the challenges that we face with Duluth not having enough housing for the workforce and other and other things that are limiting our community. “
The 100-day mark for Reinert’s administration is this Thursday. Reinert says his State of the City address will take place at Denfeld at 6:00 PM on April 25th. The mayor promised there would be many more details about the State of the City and where it is headed.
