I-35 Bridge Temporarily Closed After Truck Hits Structure

DULUTH, Minn. — A bridge over I-35 in Duluth is temporarily shut down after a truck hit the structure Thursday morning.

The 40th Avenue West bridge is being inspected for repairs according to MnDOT.

Drivers on northbound I-35 should expect single lane closures through Friday.

It’s not known how long the repairs will take.

Detour signs are in place for traffic exiting and entering I-35 around that area.

“Traffic exiting from northbound I-35 will be directed to continue on Oneota St to 37 ½ Ave W and then follow W Michigan St. and W Superior St back to 40th Ave W,” according to MnDOT. “Traffic coming on 40th Ave W will be notified that there is no access to northbound I-35.  Signage will direct motorists to take southbound I-35 and use the Central Ave exit to turn around”
