Police: BNSF Law Enforcement Agents Clear Our Superior Homeless Encampment

SUPERIOR, Wis. — A growing homeless encampment near railroad tracks in Superior was forced out Thursday afternoon.

Superior police said law enforcement agents from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) took steps to remove six people from an area of private railroad property near the Belknap viaduct.

Superior police said BNSF did not make them aware of Thursday’s enforcement, but when they did find out, two members of the department responded and stood by while BNSF law enforcement agents and contractors cleared the property.

No arrests were made.

The Superior Police Department’s mental health response team was connecting displaced people with shelter services.
