Cenovus Energy to Sponsor New School Soccer Fields in Superior
SUPERIOR, Wis. — The Superior School District is getting a financial boost of support for new soccer fields at Cooper Elementary.
Cenovus Energy is sponsoring the construction of new state-of-the-art soccer fields. The space will be used by the greater community to provide a hub for soccer, lacrosse, and other sports. The Superior Soccer Association is also behind the project.
“Just creating these spaces that anyone can use regardless of the sport is really important. But we’re just so grateful to have a new space like this that literally all of our teams can practice here. So, it’s incredible,” said Sara Schuster, President of the Superior Soccer Association.
The Superior Soccer Association started a travel soccer program last year and took off with a total of 9 teams and 140 kids this year. So, the new fields will be a huge help according to the organization’s president. One young player is excited to get the new soccer fields here’s why.
“So, we can play more, and we can have our friends and brothers and sisters all playing next to us,” said Logan Schuster, 8-year-old soccer player.
The grant from Cenovus will go toward equipment needs like soccer nets, benches, and other security measures to allow for bathroom access during practice and games.
