‘Growing Duluth’ Offers Classes, Guidance For Plant Lovers
No Matter Your Skill Level, Growing Duluth Wants to Help You Grow
DULUTH, Minn. — Since opening last September, Growing Duluth has been growing their business to include house plants, produce, gardening supplies, cannabis seeds, and more.
Co-owner Louise Kolthoff says Growing Duluth wants to make people confident in what they’re growing and be a resource for plant lovers new and old. The store offers a variety classes for different interests and skill levels. Kolthoff says their upcoming terrarium building class on April 25th is perfect for newcomers.
“The thing that’s great about terrariums is you water it and some of them seal, some of them have just a lid that you set on it, so it really doesn’t need to be re-watered for months and months,” Kolthoff said.
“And then, you get to put your plants in and put it in a bright location. And it kind of grows and changes and changes into its own unique ecosystem all by itself. It’s just really fun to see and to build, cause you can give everybody the same materials and every one is different.”
For those looking for a bigger project, outdoor and garden plant sales will begin at the end of April. Kolthoff acknowledges its been a warm spring, but she recommends waiting to plant until June — you never know when there could be a freeze. Until then, she says to stick to seedlings or focus your plant endeavors indoors.
