UMD Criminology and Sociology Club Gives Back to Youth in Need
DULUTH, Minn. — The Criminology and Sociology Club at UMD are helping community members in need.
On Tuesday the club hosted an open donation. Items asked for included non-perishable food, winter clothes, hygiene products, art supplies, and more. The organization that donations will be given to is the Carlton County Restorative Justice Program. The program works with at-risk youth in repairing harm caused by crime and to help teens learn from their mistakes. Students say they host these events to help them in their future careers.
“We all try to give back with like what our future careers might be. And I think just trying to give back to our community now is just kind of like a tack on to what we plan on doing in the future,” said Kendra Davide, freshman at UMD.
The club hopes to host more fundraisers for the restorative justice program in the future.
