Carnival-Style Food Festival Brings Together Different Cultures

DULUTH, Minn. — UMD organizations hosted a carnival-style food festival all to learn about each other’s cultures.

The annual food festival is presented by the Asian Pacific American Association who collaborate with other multi-cultural organizations. The idea is to do an activity or game at each table to win food tickets. Different cuisines included lam skewers, Korean short ribs, and honeycomb cake, along with refreshments such as dragon fruit lemonade.

It is a fun way to learn to learn about different cultures.

“Personally, I think every like dish, or every food has a story behind it, and we carry those traditions and ways of making those dishes from our ancestors and creating it and then you know everyone enjoys food,” said Dorothy Nguyen, VP of APAA.

The hope for the free event is to build new relationships through food and games as well as learning something new.
