2 Motorcyclists Injured In Separate NW Wis. Crashes With Vehicles

The motorcycle riding season has started off with two serious accidents in northwest Wisconsin over the weekend.

The first incident happened Sunday afternoon in Sawyer County on Highway 70 near the Township of Winter.

The Sheriff’s Office said the driver struck a motorcyclist while attempting to turn around after being on the shoulder.

The motorcyclist, 57-year-old Daniel Barber, was flown to a Duluth hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver was arrested on preliminary charges of a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Meanwhile in Ashland County, a motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after authorities said a vehicle turned out in front of the motorcycle.

It happened on U.S. Highway 2 in the Township of Sanborn.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries. The driver was not seriously hurt. Names were not released Monday.
