Knowing Your Neighbor: Spring Creek Manufacturing

MOUNTAIN IRON, Minn.– Dating back to 1985, Spring Creek Manufacturing has a long history of providing recreation enthusiasts with the tools they need to have a great day on the water.

“Spring Creek Manufacturing was founded in 1985, Ted Newburg wanted a better way to carry canoes and propel canoes and do all those things and so literally out of his garage he made our first product, which is the Canoe Seat/Yoke,” said Tom Sega, Spring Creek Manufacturing Partner.

What started with one product has grown significantly over the years, and when Tom Sega and his song Grant purchased Spring Creek Manufacturing back in 2017, they kicked out even more products.

“Grant really does all of the heavy lifting, he runs the company, I’m a sounding board, I’m a partner. But he’s really been the driving force that has taken it to the heights that it’s at and come out with all of these new products that we have over the past several years,” said Sega.

Spring Creek Manufacturing produces a variety of products for those into paddle sports and the outdoors. From vehicle racks to seats and motors mounts and of course one of their bigger ticket items, canoe stabilizers.

“We do all of our products right here, in this facility, with our employees,” said Sega.

Spring Creek makes all of its products in its facility in Mountain Iron. Where products run through a series of different machines before being packaged up and sent to customers.

“Made in America, made in Minnesota, made here on the Iron Range, it doesn’t get better than that,” said Sega.

All products are available on Spring Creek’s online store. The company also has distributors worldwide and customers can get products through Amazon and Walmart as well.

“The smartest people, we always say we know are our customers. And so, our customers are saying, hey, I own some of this that you’ve already made and if you made something else like this, I would also purchase that because it’s a need that I have,” said Sega.

Sega says there are a few ideas in the hopper, so expect to see new Spring Creek products in the future.
