Setup Begins For 16th Annual Continental Bike Swap

DULUTH, Minn. — Tents were being set up Wednesday for the 16th annual Continental Bike Swap that’s taking place this weekend.

Continental Ski and Bike puts on the event every year at its store in Duluth. It is a great place for those looking to sell, donate, or buy a bike. The goal is to help Duluthians stay healthy and active. It not only helps bikes find new homes, but also keeps them out of landfills and even supports a local charity.

“I love giving back to the cycling community. Cycling has been great to me for 50 years and I love giving back to the cycling community,” said William Howard, owner of Continental Ski & Bike.

This year’s charity is Duluth DEVO. It is a youth development organization that revolves around mountain biking. They currently serve around 350 youth in the area.

“There are a lot of studies that show that being involved in a sport, any sport really but for us mountain biking really helps with a lot of the mental health issues that kids are facing these days and being away from screens and creating real meaningful interactions face to face goes such a long way in to helping kids develop,” said Pat Greehan, Duluth DEVO.

Thursday and Friday people can drop-off bikes to sell or donate. Purchasing happens Saturday and Sunday. There will be food, coffee, and treats.

Fox 21’s Dan Hanger will be emceeing the fun on Saturday.
