65th Annual Duluth Lions Pancake Day
DULUTH, Minn. – It’s time to find your pancake eatin’ pants and prepare for the 65th Annual Duluth Lions Pancake Day coming up Thursday May 3rd at the DECC.
Wednesday was set-up day and the Duluth Lions Club has this process down to a science. This is the group’s 65th time preparing to feed thousands of people pancakes and sausages This year, it’s just $10 to enjoy the food .
The money raised is used by the Lions in a variety of ways. The two services the Lions are most well-known for are sight and hearing. But they do much more. Locally, the Lighthouse is one of the organizations that receives support from the Lions.
While raising money to support its efforts is the main goal of Pancake Day, it also brings people together.
Gerry Sjervn the head of the Pancake Day event, said, “That’s the biggest thing, it’s the first chance to get back together after a winter. We really didn’t have so much of a winter, but still folks didn’t see each other. This is a chance for folks to come on out and have a cup of coffee with each other, have some pancakes and visit. Most of the folks who come out here, see folks who they haven’t seen all winner. It’s just a great opportunity for the community to come together. ”
The doors open at the DEEC’s Pioneer Hall at 6:30 Thursday morning and stay open until 7:30 pm
And, not only do you get pancakes for the $10 dollar price of admission, Sausage links , coffee, milk an juice are all part of the deal.
This is the Lion’s Club largest fundraiser of the year and the group is hoping to have 10 thousand people stop in for pancakes.
