Pro-Palestine Encampment Grows In Duluth Civic Center; Police Monitoring

DULUTH, Minn. — A few more tents have arrived at the pro-Palestine encampment in Duluth’s Civic Center courtyard six days after police said it was illegal to set up tents on the property.

On Tuesday, May 7, there were at least five tents, instead of the original two, outside the Federal Building, St. Louis County Courthouse and City Hall.

A few chairs, a cooler and a portable fire pit were also on site Tuesday.

A second pro-Palestine demonstration at the Rose Garden that also started on May 1 was no longer there Tuesday afternoon.

FOX 21 reached out to the Duluth Police Department’s public information officer Tuesday to find out if the department plans to enforce the removal of the tents, as they said last Wednesday.

The statement reads in full:

“No citations have been issued and we continue to monitor the situation. There will be no further updates unless the situation changes.”
