Road Construction Projects Taking Place On I-35 This Summer
MINNESOTA — Construction season is here and MnDOT would like the public to know of a few major projects happening on I-35 this summer.
One project will be in the Hinckley area starting Monday, May 13th. Crews will be re-doing bridges. That will cause delays, especially during peak travel times on the weekends through October.
South of Duluth, the Atkinson Bridge Project is already happening. There are single lanes in each direction and that is expected to wrap up in August.
Another major project is tunnel work in Duluth. Starting in July that will cause some road closures.
“These are necessary projects to help maintain our infrastructure. So, especially i the Hinckley area, less potholes. The roads will be in good shape for the future and we’re taking care of bridges that are ready and safe to travel on for the long term,” said Margie Nelson, Public Affairs Coordinator for MnDOT.
MnDOT encourages everyone to pay attention when traveling and use the Zipper Merge when lane closures occur.
