Union Gospel Mission Receives $25,000 From Project Joy For Summer Food Program
DULUTH, Minn. — Union Gospel Mission has received a donation from Project Joy to help feed local children this summer.
Thursday afternoon Project Joy gave the Mission a check for $25,000. The money will go towards filling up bags with easy-to-prepare food for kids in the northland.
The bags will given to local organizations that have youth programs.
It will be the second year the Mission will be distributing bags after finding success last year.
“We were distributing about 150 bags a each week last summer,” said Katie Hagglund, Union Gospel Mission Executive Director. “And this year we’re expanding the program, we are going to be hitting Carlton County and our hope and goal is to be distributing over 300 bags each week.”
The summer food program will start in June and will run through the end of summer.
