Driver Arrested After Hitting Utility Pole, Vehicle On Garfield Ave.

DULUTH, Minn. — A driver is facing serious charges after Duluth police said he slammed into a utility pole and a vehicle.

The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Garfield Avenue.

The Blatnik Bridge and Garfield Avenue were closed until Minnesota Power could stabilize powerlines and install a new power pole.

Police said the 36-year-old driver was arrested on preliminary charges of having an open container, driving on a revoked license and criminal vehicle operation.

Two people in the other vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.
