Firefighters Battle 2 Wildfires On Iron Range

HIBBING, Minn., — Firefighters tackled two separate wildfires Sunday on the Iron Range.

The biggest wildfire happened in the Kitzville area of Hibbing around 3 p.m.

The Northland Fire Wire reported the Minnesota DNR was called to the scene because conditions were dangerously dry.

The DNR brought in two Fireboss aircraft.

The fire consumed around 1.5 acres.

A cause was under investigation Sunday.

The second wildfire happened Sunday afternoon, just north of Virginia near Highway 53 and 169.

No injuries were reported.
