12th Annual Under One Roof Conference Underway At The DECC

DULUTH, Minn. — With natural disasters out of our control, readiness is key. An important conference took place at the DECC, where discussions surrounding hazard preparation was the main topic.

The Under One Roof Conference had keynote speakers, and breakout sessions. This was to ensure participants learned about how they can prepare for the unknown. Specifically, tornadoes, flash floods and pandemics were just a few of the disaster’s folks were able to learn more about.

“Everyone would assume that we can all operate independently but we can’t. So, you know whenever healthcare is affected, public health is affected, emergency management is affected, EMS is affected. So, if we’re all operating under the same plans and the same understand we’re going to reach that common goal a lot sooner,” said Kimberly Hanson, Incident Commander for the Under One Roof Conference.

There are about 280 participants at the event from across the state of Minnesota, as well as some surrounding states. This is a 2-day conference.
