New Artwork from Renowned Artist Hangs from the Ceiling in the Holiday Center Atrium
DULUTH, Minn. — If you have been inside the Holiday Center in downtown Duluth the last couple of days, you will have noticed it is getting some new artwork. Anne Labovitz grew up in Duluth and has been doing art exhibitions all over the world for 30 years. North Shore Blue is the name of the work on display in the Holiday Center Atrium. It features long pieces of painted Tyvek suspended from the ceiling on both ends. The goal was to infuse color and energy into the atrium that resembles Lake Superior.
“It’s really like a gigantic love letter to Lake Superior. And it kind of calls toward the lake and this idea that it moves a bit and it’s got this blue. So it’s not literally the lake, obviously, and it’s sort of a conceptual idea of that,” said Labovitz.
As of now the artwork will be up indefinitely for visitors of the Holiday Center to enjoy. We will have more about Anne and her work in an upcoming Knowing Your Neighbor segment.
