DULUTH, Minn. — Bent Paddle Brewing in Duluth is partnering up with A Bar of Their Own in the Twin Cities to create a new beer!

A Bar of Their Own is the first sports bar in the Midwest dedicated to women’s sports. The pale ale, aptly named “A Beer of Their Own” will be available exclusively at the sports bar in Minneapolis and the taproom in Duluth. While Bent Paddle has created collaborative beers in the past, Co-Founder Karen Tonnis said this one is extra special.

“It’s one of a kind,” said Tonnis. “There are only three bars in the country dedicated to women’s sports and a Bar of Their Own is one of them. And they have been very supportive to us.”

Owners Jillian and Megan visited the pilot brewery Tuesday to help brew “A Beer of Their Own.” Their bar already has Bent Paddle on tap and the owners say they have a personal connection to the brewing company.

“We’ve been huge fans of Bent Paddle for years,” said Jillian Hiscock. “I’ve been following Bent Paddle and involved with Bent Paddle for ten years. My wife and I actually got married out here at Bent Paddle a couple years ago, so we’ve had a long history with Bent Paddle. When we were trying to decide where we wanted to brew this was a natural collaboration for us.”

The beer isn’t just a partnership between two Minnesota companies — it’s about women supporting women. A Bar of Their Own is 100% women-owned and Bent Paddle is 50% women-owned, something both establishments are proud of.

“A Beer of Their Own” will be available at both locations at the beginning on July.
