Couple Reaches Diamond Wedding Anniversary 75 Years of Marriage

DULUTH, Minn. — It’s a very exclusive club, couples that have been married for 75 years.  One couple who has reached that milestone now calls Keystone Bluffs home.

The year was 1949 when Faith and Elmer Amborn said “I DO” to one another. That was in the living room of a minister’s home. Elmer was 21 and Faith was just 17, and needed permission from her mother to marry and she got that permission.

“She did. She liked him and he was a good provider,” said Faith Amborn.

Elmer was a driver for Koch Trucking and Faith was able to accompany him on many of his trips across the country. They had two children a daughter and a son.

Faith says that togetherness is one of the reasons they’ve been married so long.

“Whatever we did, we did together, work or play.” She went on to say,” You’ve got to give and take.”

When asked if marriage was hard, she answered, “Yep, well there’s enjoyment too. If you enjoy doing things together.”

Faith and Elmer did enjoy working together. They built a house together when she was 80 and her husband was 83. From digging the basement to Faith putting on the roof because Elmer couldn’t climb a ladder.
