Donation Helps Second Harvest Northland Provide 9,000 Meals To Kids In Need
DULUTH, Minn. — Thanks to a generous donation Second Harvest Northland is filling the gap by giving children in need food on the weekends.
The Duluth Junk Hunt happened last month and every year they donate a portion of their proceeds to a local non-profit. With their support Second Harvest will be able to provide 9,000 weekend meals to children in the Northland. It’s all part of their BackPack Program that sends students home with a bag of food.
“It’s really helpful to us. I mean when people elevate Second Harvest, they’re certainly you know making others aware of the work that we do. And of course, kind of endorsing like how others can support us in our region. That’s really what it is its neighbors helping neighbors and certainly the more people that support Second Harvest and the work we do, the less neighbors that we have that go hungry to bed at night,” said Shaye Moris, President and CEO of Second Harvest Northland.
Second Harvest is seeing a 30% to 40% increase in demand at food shelves. Financial support and volunteers are always wanted.
